Description

This trip will involve multiple sites within the Sand Hill Scout Reserve, Chassahowitzka Wildlife Management Area, and Croom Road Marsh. We’ll be discussing and exploring a combination of near-surface geophysical methods (in the field) and ecohydrologic concepts, both with guidance from Dr. ReNae Nowicki of Ecohydrologix and staff from GeoView, Inc. (a leading geophysical services company in the southeastern United States). This trip will be limited to a total of 10 registrants due to its in-depth and hands-on nature. We’ll also be offering a total of 7 CEUs for PG license holders (Georgia or North Carolina). This is a unique opportunity to be involved in real research that may have the potential for future publication. We anticipate the spots will be in high demand and likely sell out quickly. We ask that participants pack their own lunch, as we’ll be trying to maximize our time spent on field work.

UPDATE ON November 18th, 2023 Field Trip:

We will be meeting at the main entrance to the Chassahowitzka Wildlife Management Area on US 19 just north of Centralia Road at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday morning. In the afternoon, we’ll head east to the Withlacoochee State Forest. You’ll want to bring a lunch and some beverages. It’ll be a good idea to bring a hand lens, sunscreen, insect repellent, and a field stool or chair for the sitting portions of the presentations if you like.
